Forest Park - A Sanctuary in St. Louis

Described as "one of the world's most beautiful city parks" by Travel + Leisure Magazine, Forest Park is an incredible backdrop for an afternoon picnic by Flegel Falls or a tree-lined morning jog. An urban oasis in the middle of St. Louis, the lush 1,371-acre park is also home to the city's most sought-after cultural attractions. Meet regal lions and playful sea lions at the world-renowned St. Louis Zoo. Explore the St. Louis Art Museum to appreciate original brushstrokes by Van Gogh and Picasso. Rent a paddle boat from the Boathouse Restaurant and enjoy an after-meal adventure, or drive the zoysia fairways of Forest Park Golf Course. Situated on the edge of the park, The Chase is an iconic Saint Louis Forest Park hotel, where guests enjoy effortless access to all the attractions, events and natural beauty the park encompasses.

  • Can I bring my pet?

Sure! In fact, Forest Park is very pet-friendly, and it's a popular place for locals to walk their dog. However, dogs are required to be on a leash at all times, and owners are expected to pick up after their pet. Some of the park's dining options are also pet-friendly. Keep in mind that pets are not allowed at any inside cultural attractions, so plan accordingly.
  • Is fishing allowed in Forest Park?

Yes. Fishing is allowed at Forest Park's many lakes and lagoons, except where restriction signs post otherwise. The primary fishing destination is Jefferson Lake, located just south of the Steinberg Ice Skating Rink. The lake features its own fishing platform and holds large-mouth bass, crappie and catfish. Trout are also active in the winter. To fish, a valid Missouri fishing license is required.
